Keep the Groom’s Head in the Game

How many times per day do you think the average groom-to-be thinks about his upcoming wedding? I mean on his own, without prompting from his fiancĂ©. My guess would be about once every 2 or 3 days. Most guys just don’t really think about it. That’s probably the main reason why men are not usually interested (at all) in planning the wedding. We just don’t really think about it until the final week or two before the big day. It’s not that we don’t care, it’s just that we men have so many important things on our minds (football, beer, chicken wings, etc.). We just can’t keep track of all this silly wedding stuff too. That’s just the way it is. Women just need to deal with it right? Yeah, that’ll happen. Ladies think about this stuff nonstop and they can’t understand how their man can simply “forget” about his wedding for months at a time.

But what if you just happen to be a future groom who actually wants to participate in the wedding planning and preparation? (yeah right) Well, if you want to try to be “perfect” and make the rest of us look bad, here’s an idea for you. It’s obvious that you aren’t going to be able to stay involved on your own without lots of help, so you better find some fast. You might be able to keep it up for a day or two, but it won’t be long before the mind numbing boredom will have you looking for greener pastures …. (like the grass of a football field maybe?). You’ll forget about your wedding again and return to uncaring terrible normal-man status. But what if you could remind yourself about the wedding every day? That would help some. Ok, here’s my great idea. Get yourself a custom phone skin with your fiancĂ©’s photo on the back and the date of your upcoming wedding on the front. Brilliant eh? Yes it is! So every time you look at your phone, pick up your phone or talk on your phone, you’ll see a personalized reminder of your imminent doom …. er, wedding day. Wouldn’t this be a big help in keeping your relationship on the right path before the wedding? Sure, you’ll have to put up with some major league ball breaking from your buddies, but all the women in your life with think you’re dreamy. Wouldn’t that be swell?

In the end, it’s up to you to decide how involved you’ll be in the planning and preparation of your wedding. To be honest, the bride probably doesn’t really want you to be too involved, but she does want you to know and care about what’s going on. So why not give yourself a reminder and keep your head in the game? And while you’re thinking about the wedding, don’t forget to spend some time planning your groomsmen’s gifts. Oh yeah, and maybe work on that bachelor party wish list while you’re at it. You don’t want to save the important stuff for the last minute. That wouldn’t be much fun would it?
