Think Outside The Box For Groomsmen Gifts, Bestman Gifts

If you are visiting here chances are you’re planning a wedding and looking for gift ideas for the men involved. I just discovered a blog post suggesting knives as gifts for men in the wedding party, and it made me think we really need to think outside the box and not just buy the same old gifts that are promoted for groomsmen and the best man.

I really think that the type of gifts men wind up with are related to the fact that women do most of the planning for a wedding. Look around the web at what you see? You see gifts suggested for groomsmen like cufflinks, coffee mugs, shot glasses, and other items that are easily set aside to gather dust. Men really want something they can use.

If men were doing more of the planning you would see more gift ideas like watches, small tools, fishing tackle, pedometers, and other gifts that you could actually use. Men want to use stuff. They’re not interested in little knickknacks that just hang around forever and are forgotten about in some dusty corner.

Now I know this is coming from a man’s point of view, and you ladies will do what you want when it comes to wedding planning. It’s just that I had to throw out the idea to think more in line with what a man would like and not just what you think would be cute. Guys want utility not cute.

Now ladies as you plan let me encourage you to leave some of these wedding planning websites behind when it comes to men, and find some camping and outdoor sites. This is of course assumes that the men in their party are into the outdoors. If not there are plenty of tools sites out there. If your wedding party is fairly young chances are the men have not acquired all the tools they are going to need in life. What about the small socket set or a multipurpose screwdriver.

If I haven’t got your imagination going yet go and read the blog post that got me started entitled Knife Gifts for Camping Groomsmen and you will see where I’m coming from.
